E-Z Rent-A-Car Implements A No Smoking Policy In All Rental Cars

On October 1st, 2009, E-Z Rent-A-Car made an executive decision to implement a “no smoking” policy in all of its fleet cars. From now on, if you rent a car from E-Z Rent-A-Car, you are prohibited to smoke inside the car while it is in your possession. We understand that this poses an inconvenience to some customers who smoke cigarettes and cigars, but the majority of our customers appreciate a rental car without the smell of smoke in it. The decision was made to enhance your overall customer experience when renting a car from E-Z Rent-A-Car.

Here are some Frequently Asked Questions:

  1. Why Did You Make This Decision? We have had numerous customer requests to make the cars smoke-free, and we believe that a strong majority of our customers want smoke-free, discount rental cars.
  2. What Will Happen To The Cars That Smell Like Smoke? We are quickly working to remove them from our fleet inventory, but the process does take time.
  3. Is There A Penalty For Smoking In The Car After October 1st? Yes, if we rent a car to you with no smell of smoke, and you return it with an obvious smoke smell, you may be charged a cleaning fee of up to $250 to remove the smoke odor. While we are in the process of removing fleet vehicles with a smoke smell, please self-inspect the interior of your rental car before leaving the rental facility. If you detect a smoke odor, please notify one of our employees and ask them to make a note in your contract to prevent you from being charged for an odor that you did not create.

What are your thoughts about this new policy? We want to hear your feedback. Post a comment below.
