AFTER HOURS
EMERGENCY INFOIn case of emergency the costumer must call the rent a car main office in order to provide or coordinate the assistance.
CANCELLATIONS
Cancellations and No ShowA credit card guarantee is required for each reservation. Although your credit card will not be charged at time of reservation customers who fail to cancel their reservation at least 24 hours prior to pick up of the reserved vehicle from the source that the reservation was originally booked, or fail to show up for their rental, will be subject to a one day rental fee. As a general guideline, cancellation should be made at least 72 hours before your scheduled pick-up time.

EQUIPMENTThe following products are available upon request: GPS, Baby Seat, Booster Seats, Maps. Prices vary and all items are subject to availability upon arrival. It is the law that children and babies be seated in baby seats or booster seat.
GAS
Fuel OptionsVehicle must be returned with same amount of fuel as rented to avoid a refueling service charge.
To simplify the vehicle return process, you may choose to pay for a full tank of fuel in advance at the time of rental. This way you won’t have to worry about filling up when you are ready to return the vehicle.
GEOGRAPHIC
Mileage CapAll drivers are entitled to unlimited mileage.
Geographical LimitationsVehicles cannot be taken outside the country of Costa Rica. If you take the car out of Costa Rica, then it will be considered negligence and a penalty charge will apply, plus time and expenses.
INSURANCE
INSURANCE TYPESL.W. - Liability Waiver: is a waiver of Mapache Rent A Car right to charge the Renter or Renters for damages to third parties during the rental. L.W. limits charges for damages for injuries and third party properties to a 20 percent deductible and will also cover vehicle storage and administrative fees. L.W. charges are: Cars - $15.00 USD per day. SUVs - $ 20.00 USD per day. L.L.W - Limited Loss Waiver * - L.L.W. is an optional product that will reduce the Renters third party liability to zero and also reduces customers legal expenses to zero. L.L.W. charges - All Vehicles - $8.00 USD per day. --written proof-- If Renter wishes to decline L.W. Liability Waiver or L.D.W. Loss Damage Waiver and rely on the their own personal insurance, the Renter must provide written proof from their insurance company, specifically stating coverage is effective in the country of Costa Rica for the duration of the rental agreement for third part liability. A minimum security deposit of $5,000 USD will be required; if customer does not accept L.W. then L.L.W will automatically be required.
LDW Loss Damage Waiver: This coverage reduces the responsibility of the client, of the total commercial value of the rented vehicle, to a deductible, according to the rented vehicle in case of an accident. Terms and conditions, signed on the day of the rental, are applicable. (If the driver of the rented vehicle is under the influence of alcohol or drugs, including prescription drugs, this coverage does not apply).In case of partial theft, vandalism or damage to parts and/or accessories, this coverage does not apply. The cost of this LDW insurance coverage is 15.00 USD, for all cars. If the client wishes to decline the LDW coverage, trusting their insurance company and/or bank, they shall leave a deposit for guarantee of 3,000 USD for cars, and 5,000 USD, for Vans or luxury cars.
Extended Protection coverage or Zero Deductible (EPC includes LDW): This coverage eliminates all responsibility for the rented vehicle, in case of an accident, fire or total theft. Terms and conditions, signed on the day of the rental, are applicable. (if the driver of the rented vehicle is under the influence of alcohol or drugs, including prescription drugs, this coverage does not apply). Legal assistance is available, if required. The cost of this EPC insurance coverage is 10.00 USD for cars, and 20.00 USD, for SUV.
Tires and Glass insurance: This coverage eliminates all the responsibility of the client for damages to the wheels, tires, rims, hub caps or glass, of the rented vehicle. Terms and conditions, signed on the day of the rental, are applicable. (If the driver is under the influence of alcohol or drugs, including prescription drugs, this coverage does not apply). The cost of this TGI insurance coverage is 7.00 USD, for all cars.
SRA Solicited Road Assistance: This coverage provides the client with road assistance of the rented vehicle (jump start cables and service, changing of flat or damaged tires, locksmiths, gasoline delivery (does not include the cost of the gasoline). Restrictions apply please ask for more information at our counters. The cost of this SRA insurance coverage is 2.99 USD, for cars, and 4.99 USD, for SUV.
PAYMENT
PaymentAll major credit and debit cards are accepted a rental deposit of US$1000.00, (or more depending on the type vehicle renting) plus estimated rental charges is required.
We also accept vouchers from travel agencies, all charges will be processed in Colones (Costa Rica official currency) prices are provided in U.S. dollars as a courtesy to our customers, we are not responsible for banking charges that may incur when using your card. Cash deposits, Travelers Checks, Unendorsed Credit or Debit cards will be subject to verification at the moment of the rental. For those reservations that require a credit card guarantee, customers will be subject to a one day rental fee if they fail to show up to rent their reserved car, or if reservations are not canceled at least 24 hours prior to the reserved date through the source the reservation was made through.
RULES
Rental Requirements- Minimum rental period is 1 Days and reservation must be made at least 24 hours prior to pickup.
- The driver must present a valid driver's license and credit card in their name upon pick-up. The credit card is required as a deposit when renting any vehicle. Please ensure sufficient funds are available on the card.
- Your rental may have mandatory, local insurance requirements that result in additional charges at the time of rental.
- All prices quoted in USD. The total price includes all mandatory taxes and fees. Rental fees are due at pick-up. At time of pick up, the car rental agency may charge you for additional insurance, such as liability insurance, which may be required in certain locations
- Mileage rules: Unlimited mileage
- Weekly rates often reflect a savings over daily rates; returning a weekly rental early may not result in a proportionate refund. Additional days beyond the weekly rate plan periods may be charged at the extra day rate.
- The following fees may be charged at the time of rental for additional services Extra day: $10 Extra hour: $5.
- Vehicles returned with pet hair, mud, food and beverage stains, etc., will be subject to a cleaning fee between $100 to $300. Customers, please check your vehicle for cleanliness before leaving the rental lot.
- We ask for your help in keeping our vehicles smoke free. A $50.00 fee will be charged to customers who return vehicles that have been smoked in.
- RESERVATION HOLDING TIME - Reservations will be honored for 1 hour after original scheduled pick up time. Customers with reservations who experience weather or mechanical delays with airlines must call our office, so that we may try and accommodate their reservation. Any changes to the reservation or rental may result in a change of rate or additional fees.
- MULTIPLE or DUPLICATE RESERVATIONS - If you require multiple vehicles for the same or overlapping time periods, please make sure to use a different name for each reservation, otherwise the duplicate name reservation will automatically be cancelled. E-Z Rent-A-Car will not be responsible for any cancelled reservations. After hours pickup and drop off: If provide after hours pickup or drop off, please provide all information concerning this, including any additional charges.
Additional Drivers must be present at the time of rental and an additional charged of $10 per day will apply for each additional driver. Additional drivers must also meet license and other renter requirements.
Drivers LicenseRenter must present a valid driver license at the time of rental. Foreign renters must present a valid driver license and a valid passport and based on the date of the entry stamp, will be allowed to rent a vehicle for up to 90 days, present at time of rental.
DepositThe amount of the rent plus a minimum of $ 1.000, will be held in your card at the time of the rental, once the vehicle is returned this deposit will be released this process can take 7 to 14 business days.
OVERSTAYThere is a tolerance period of 30 minutes, to return a vehicle, from the return hour stipulated on the rental contract. After that stipulated hour, each hour will be 15 used, up to a maximum of 3 hours. After 3 hours, a whole day will be charged according to the confirmed daily rate stipulated on the rental contract.
One Way RentalsThere may be an additional charge for dropping off the vehicle at a different office. The drop off charge varies depending at which office you are renting from and which office you are returning the vehicle into.
